This is an OEM GM 3-Speed (Standard Ratio) Transmission Assembly that is original and correct for various 1957 Chevrolet Passenger Cars
.
I do not have any history on the mechanical aspect of the transmission, but it does not appear to have any visible damage to the casing or tail shaft.  The cluster gear does show some signs of wear however the transmission does turn easily.  I would advise that it be gone through before being installed.
The date code on the assembly is "S620" as it is stamped into the flange of the casing.  This code translates to "June 20th".  The assembly consists of part numbers 3731191 (cover), 3845122 (casing), 3707195 (tail shaft) and 3741458 (front bearing retainer).  The casing and tail shaft have matching date codes of "F187" which would be June 18th of 1957.  The count of teeth on the cluster gear are 27 - 14 - 22.  As stated above, this will need to be gone through before installing into a vehicle.
