This is an original Borg Warner T85 3 speed overdrive manual transmission. This transmission was optional in 1965-1971 Ford trucks and is a popular upgrade for these trucks and vintage hot rods and custom applications. The main case has the casting number T85N-1A and the extension housing is cast R11-1W. These original 3 speed overdrive transmissions are getting hard to find. Don't miss this one.
This transmission recently came out of an estate and I had no history on it. It had a tag on it so I was hopeful it was a good take out. Unfortunately, upon further inspection, it has broken gears inside and will need a full rebuild. It does still spin and the input shaft and one other gear looks ok. The cluster gear and two rear most gears in the main case will definitely need replacement. That said, these transmissions are very hard to find and rebuilt units command a premium. I am pricing this transmission so someone can rebuild it and still come out on top. I am listing this for local pickup so the buyer can inspect it in person. I would consider shipping it but it would have to make sense.
