The note retains quite a bit of its original stiffness and sheen. Its corners are squared with minimum rounding, if any. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits.     Description:
    A beautiful extremely fine or much better banknote from South Africa. This is the South African Reserve Bank ten Shillings note issued 6.1.59 (January 6, 1959). The banknote is brown and has the name of the bank in Afrikaans top center of the front. It also has the portrait of Jan van Riebeeck at left of the front. The front also has the denomination in both Afrikaans and English. The back has text in both Afrikaans and English for the denomination on top and bottom and the name of the bank on both sides of the arms of South Africa to be found in the center of the back. The note has a watermark showing the head of J. van Riebeek. The front has one signature, the date and the serial number as well as the denomination. This particular note has the serial number A/171 900049, which is displayed twice in black on the front. The back only displays the name of the bank and the denomination.
