MG Midget Austin Healey Sprite Early Ribcase Transmission Gearbox rebuilt 19

Description

Correct for MG Midget II or Austin Healey Sprite III, rebuilt ribcase transmission. This is an early ribcase, fitted to 10CG power units.  Excellent upgrade for early cars and Bugeye, this has the close ratio and quieter gearset.  Not recommended for 1275 powered cars.
Transmission has been completely disassembled, solvent and pressure power washed, wire wheeled, and acid bleached as needed.  It has been examined for wear and damage, and reassembled. The laygear and reverse gear are in very good condition, 1st gear / second gear slider has some minor wear on the leading edges.
All the gear cones still have intact ceramic coating on the synchro surface and the engagement dogs have minimal wear
. Layshaft bearings, input bearing, main case bearing, input to mainshaft bearing, rear and speedometer seals and gaskets are all new.
No shifter or clutch fork is included. You will need a rib case specific shifter, so if you are upgrading from a smooth case, you will not be able to use the old shifter. You will need to install a rib case clutch release fork and use the release bearing which matches your clutch.  The gearbox is shipped dry, a fill of 1 quart of 10w30 motor oil must be added after installation of power unit.  Adding the oil before the driveshaft is installed will result in the oil running out of the tailshaft housing when the power unit is tilted for installation.
