Staffordshire Robinson Crusoe Decorative Plate, 5 ¾ inch diameter, unmarked, old tag on back marked “Staffordshire Plate c. 1840”, England, crazing to the back, small chips to the edges front and back, wear to the print, unusual edge design with points rather than being round, embossed scrolling inside the painted green lines of the front, the plate is a part of a series that tells the story of Robinson Crusoe with this on depicting Crusoe shipwrecked on his raft and drifting toward the island, “Robinson Crusoe” in print above the design, the title is worn below the design, large blobs of color to the decoration that are under the glaze and give the plate a primitive look, wonderful early plate.
